RODGERSIA aesculifolia : White flowers, 36"+, midsummer, moist soils.

RODGERSIA 'Firework': Clear deep pink flowers, 34", moist soils, part shade - shade, Z4.

RODGERSIA henrici : Pink-red flowers, midsummer, 36".

RODGERSIA hybrids : White to pink flowers, midsummer, 36", sun-pt. shade, thrives in moist soils, Z4. these are plants we got from our friend Don Avery.

RODGERSIA sambucifolia : White flowers, 36", midsummer, moist soils.

Rosa 'Dr. Huey': This is the plant most often used for a rootstock on grafted roses. We had an unusually warm winter 2001 - 2002 and the canes that are typically winter-killed survived and we had this wonderful rose climbing 16" or more up into this juniper. What a treat!

Rosa 'William Baffin': I know... not exactly an herbaceous perennial - we just really enjoyed this plant and had a photo to share.

RUDBECKIA fulgida 'Goldsturm' : Large golden yellow flowers with brown cones.

SALIX arctica 'Petraea' : Creeping arctic willow to 4".

SALIX hylomatica : Creeping arctic willow with reddish catkins in spring, 1". Close-up.

SALVIA argentea : Large showy, felted, silvery leaved rosette with white flowers. Short lived, spectacular, self sows. 30".

SALVIA forskaolei: Violet blue flowers on this sage from near the Black Sea, growing on dry rocky soils. For sun to part shade, 36".

SALVIA nemorosa 'Blauhügel' ['Blue Hill'] : Blue flowers - these really are blue - 18" - 24", midsummer.

SEDUM 'Frosty Morn' : Wide white border on the leaf with white to pink flowers in late summer, 12". We've stopped growing this - it's neither vigorous nor stable.

SEDUM kamschaticum 'Variegatum' : Green/ white variegated leaves. Yellow flowers.

SEDUM 'Little Moor' (small image - large image) : This is another variation on a dark leafed spectabile type. This has been in the garden for quite a few years. I didn't think much of it because it is very slow growing, but after a few years it has turned into an attractive plant. Probably a bit slow to be a commercial hit.
